And each time his gaze is drawn towards Concord's neck, looking for the marks he knows are there, only to glance away quickly when he remembers himself. When evening arrives, Ali has long since finished the laundry and has Concord's jacket hanging in the office. It's cleaned and pressed, with no evidence of the bodily fluids that had once stained it.
